Welcome to New Beginnings Christian Learning Center
It has always been a dream of ours to own a Quality Christian Child Care Center. That dream has finally come true. New Beginnings Christian Learning Center opened its doors for the families of Taneytown and surrounding areas on June 2, 2008. We knew the moment we saw the previous child care center that "New Beginnings" is what it needed. New Beginnings Christian Learning Center is located at 501 E Baltimore Street.

My name is Lisa Patterson and I am not only the owner but a "hands on "Director. My husband Al and I decided to purchase the center to meet the needs of our community. Al and I are very active in the community. We attend church in Taneytown and we work with the youth in the area. We have three children that are active throughout the community. It is very important to us to provide the community with a safe, quality program that will allow children to grow and learn in an environment that has a Christian emphasis and is developmentally appropriate. The program will provide both the parents and children with an environment that is safe, nurturing and educational.

Child care has been a large part of my life for over 25 years. I have a special place in my heart for children. The roles I have carried out within this field have been an assistant, group leader, senior staff, executive director and a center director for 14 years. Out of the 14 years, I spent ten years working as a Director for Celebree Learning Centers in Westminster. We feel that with our experiences and living in Taneytown we will be able to meet the needs of the community and uphold our mission.

New Beginnings Christian Learning Center has so much to be proud of. The center has gone through a major face lift. The center worked very diligently towards becoming MSDE (Maryland State Department of Education) Accredited and we are proud to announce that we received this accreditation June 18, 2009. We worked with different organizations such as PERK, PACT: Helping children with special needs, Abilities Network, United Way and we are Judy Center Partnered. The different organizations provide trainings and hands on support to further educate our teachers. They gave us resources and feedback towards our accreditation process. We are very grateful for the community based organizations that allow us to work together to provide the best possible quality care for the children.

We believe that this opportunity is a gift from God. We did not look for the opportunity, the opportunity looked for us. We will do what it takes to please him and to provide the community with an awesome program.

About Our Staff

Owner/Director, Lisa Patterson opened New Beginnings Christian Learning Center on June 2, 2008. Lisa has her AA degree in Early Childhood Education and is a Level 5 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 25 years of experience in the field, Lisa finds it very rewarding to see the children grow and learn but loves to see how happy the children are coming to the center each day. For fun she enjoys scrapbooking, spending time with her husband and 3 boys, shopping, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Assistant Director, Misti Gulko joined the company as a Child Care Teacher on September 8, 2008. Misti is working towards her AA degree in Early Childhood Education and is a Level 3 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 5 years of experience in the field, Misti finds it very rewarding to meet new parents and children and to watch the children have fun. For fun she enjoys getting together with good friends and being with family.

Child Care Teacher, Randi Carlisle joined the company as an Infant Teacher on March 3, 2009. Randi has received her 90 hour certificate in ECE, 45 hour certificate for Infant and Toddlers and is Level 3 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 10 years of experience in the field, Randi finds it very rewarding to play with and nurture the babies she cares for. For fun she enjoys going to the movies, scrapbooking, babysitting, and spending time with her friends and family.

Child Care Teacher, Candi Lawson joined the company as an Infant Teacher on June 2, 2008. Candi has received her 90 hour certificate in ECE, received the "All Star" award in Child Development in high school and is a Level 3 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 15 years of experience in the field, she enjoys watching the children learn as they grow. For fun she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Child Care Teacher, Ella Plank joined the company as a Toddler Teacher on September 8, 2009. Ella has received her 90 hour certificate in ECE, 45 hour certificate for Infant and Toddlers and is a Level 3 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 15 years of experience in the field, she enjoys watching the children grow and especially watch their language development. For fun she enjoys spending time with her grandson that was born in February 2010.

Child Care Assistant, Lisa Hemler joined the company as an Assistant Teacher on June 2, 2008. Lisa has completed many trainings and is a Level 2 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 20 years of experience in the field, Lisa finds it very rewarding to see the children's excitement when they learn and accomplish something new. For fun she enjoys having fun with friends but most of all spending time with her family.

Child Care Volunteer, Melanie Callegary joined the company as Volunteer in April of 2010. With more than 2 years of experience in the field, Melanie finds it very rewarding to see the children grow each and every day and helping out her coworkers. For fun she enjoys her computer, walking, singing, dancing and being a helping hand within the community.

Child Care Teacher, Kristyn Timmerman joined the company as an Assistant on June 2, 2008. Kristyn has received her 90 hour certificate in ECE and is a Level 1 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 3 years of experience in the field, she enjoys playing with the babies. For fun she enjoys photography, music, skateboarding (watching, not doing it) going to the movies, shopping and babysitting.

Child Care Teacher, Katy Herrmann joined the company as a Kindergarten Prep Teacher on June 30, 2008. Katy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies/Elementary Education and a Teaching Certificate Pre K – 6th Grade and is a Level 5 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 3 years of experience in the field, she enjoys teaching the children new things and just having fun with the children. For fun Katy enjoys playing the guitar, hanging out with family and friends and making new memories!

Child Care Teacher, Catherine Ganjon joined the company as a Preschool Teacher on June 2, 2008. Catherine has received her 90 hour certificate in ECE and is currently working on her AA degree in ECE. She is a Level 4 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 5 years of experience in the field, she likes to see the joy in children when they learn something new. For fun she enjoys scrapbooking, kayaking, and spending time with her daughter.

Child Care Teacher, Carly Bender joined the company as an Infant and Preschool Teacher on June 2, 2008. Carly has received her 90 hour certificate in ECE and has her AA degree in Human Services. She is a Level 2 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 3 years of experience in the field, she enjoys being greeted with smiles and hugs from the children. For fun she enjoys camping, the beach, and spending time with her friends and family.

Child Care Teacher, Heather Howe joined the company as an Assistant Teacher on April 14, 2009. Heather has completed her 90 hours in ECE and is a Level 1 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 2 years of experience in the field, Heather loves to see the smiles on the children's faces every day and when they learn something new. For fun she enjoys horseback riding, four wheeling, babysitting and photography.

Child Care Assistant, Breanna Cutsail joined the company as an Assistant Teacher on June 7, 2010. Bree has completed her 90 hours in ECE and is a Level 1 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 1 years of experience in the field, Bree finds it very rewarding to work with children every day. For fun she enjoys sewing, fashion design, volleyball and spending time with friends and family.

Child Care Assistant/Cook, Mary Miller joined the company as an Assistant Teacher/Cook on June 2, 2008. Mary is a Level 1 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 16 years of experience in the field, Mary finds it very rewarding to work with children every day. For fun she enjoys doing crafts.

Child Care Assistant, Crista Musser joined the company as an Assistant Teacher on March 1, 2010. Crista has completed the Paraprofessional Certification program through Francis Scott Key High School and is a Level 1 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 3 years of experience in the field, Crista finds it very rewarding when the children look up to her and bring many smiles to her face. For fun she enjoys continuing her education, being with her best friend, exploring new things, making moments memorable, and being helpful.

Child Care Teacher, Abigail Cobbs joined the company as Child Care Teacher on January 24, 2011. Abby has received her 90 hour certificate in ECE and her certification for Infant and Toddlers. She enjoys coming to work every day and working with the children. For fun she enjoys painting, drawing, gardening, baking and decorating cakes.

Child Care Teacher, Rachel Olson joined the company as a Toddler Teacher on November 1, 2010. Rachel has received her 90 hour certificate in ECE, Infant and Toddler certification and School Age certification and is currently working on her AA degree in ECE. She is a Level 3 in the MSDE Credentialing program. With more than 5 years of experience in the field, she enjoys watching the children grow and learn. For fun she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Child Care Teacher, Christine Simpson joined the company as a Toddler Teacher on January 3, 2011. Christine has received her 90 hour certificate in ECE and she is going back to school to work on her AA degree in ECE. With more than 6 years of experience in the field, she enjoys how the children keep her laughing and the people she works with are wonderful. For fun she enjoys reading, family time especially playing games, crafts, and cooking with her children.
Mission/Philosophy Statement

New Beginnings Christian Learning Center (New Beginnings CLC) will provide a safe quality program that will allow children to grow and learn in an environment that has a Christian emphasis and is developmentally age appropriate. New Beginnings Christian Learning Center is Accrediated through the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). The center follows a state approved curriculum called “Opening the World of Learning” by Pearson Early Learning for our Preschool children and "Creative Curriculum" by Teaching Strategies for children ages 6 weeks – Twos. We offer a Before and After School program for children ages 5 - 12. The program will provide both the parents and children with an environment that is safe, nurturing and educational.

New Beginnings CLC will establish an environment of trust with open and supportive communication between staff and the administration.  We will motivate staff to receive ongoing professional training opportunities to keep them up to date on the latest developments within the field of Early Childhood Education. The staff of New Beginnings CLC is part of the Maryland State Department of Education Credentialing Program.

New Beginnings CLC prides itself on providing a program, not only the children but, for the parents to become involved. We will foster relationships between staff, families and community. Opportunities will be offered to enhance parenting skills. There are many opportunities for families to volunteer and come together to learn about their child’s development and become part of our community.
